Catenary measurement system

ASSET Rail developed a new measurement system to monitor the quality of the contact wire.

• Built within a small container that can be put on any standard flat railcar or road-rail vehicle.
• Can be operated with our Hybrid-Unimog with full on-track electric propulsion system. Therefore, allowing for clean, safe and sustainable operation within clean air zones, sensitive station and tunnel environments, etc.
• Able to operate on live overhead lines.
• Certified up to 3kV DC voltage, currently applying for 25kV AC certification.
• Suitable for both heavy rail, high-speed – and light rail.
• Measurement speed up to 25 km/h allowing for optimal sampling frequency (1000Hz).
• Open data standards (output in GIS, Google Maps, ….).
• Parameters wire thickness, height, stagger, gradient, hard spots collected each mm.
• Data is analysed within 24 hours.
• Detailed results and reliable information.

Zero Emission overhead wire measurement system

The results:

• Commercial runs started in October 2023.
• First results: identified more than 150 thin spots and exceedances (incidents?)that were not visible within the legacy measurement car data. (is dit het correcte woord?)conventional measurement data?
• Identified a 3.5 mm thin spot that got replaced immediately (thin spot was not visible within the legacy conventional? data!).
